Over the past year I have been wanting to have new modelled photo's done of current and past work that you see on my website. In the past I have used young and more mature models and found that I prefer using real women. Sheana is a local lady who agreed to model for me, she is someone who I have admired from afar and I love her style. I love looking at peoples style and how they react to my work and I think this is a really important part of learning where you work fits and who it is suited to.
For the first time I have used a professional photographer. Rosie Woodhouse is a photographer based on the Isle of Skye. She is mega busy with elopements and weddings on the Island but also does beautiful portraits. I was drawn to her style of photography and really enjoyed working with her.
So let's set the scene - we are on Ord beach on the west side of Sleat, it is a northerly wind with occasional showers coming across the Cullin in the background...in other words it is cold! It is Skye at it's best with dramatic scenes and bursts of sunlight filling our shooting time, with the occasional dash back to the car when a rain shower hits us from the north.
Ord is the perfect place for a photoshoot, what better background than the Cuillin ridge!
A beautiful starfish gracing our photoshoot!
Beautiful lichens on the rocks....these are the places I get my colour inspiration from!
I was on hand to assist with jewellery placement, occasional light shield holder and tea and baking coordinator....a very important job!
We found a lovely old Croft house that is now a shed in Tokavaig, perfect backdrop for my Long Fankle necklace!
I wanted to end on this photo as I also asked Rosie to shoot some images in black and white...this is definitely one of my favourite shots!
