After one of the busiest January's I thought I should fill you in on what's been happening here at Heather McDermott Jewellery!
Firstly there came the tradeshows...
CRAFT - Topdrawer - London
This was my second year exhibiting at the show on a group stand with 7 other Highland makers supported by Emergents. My collection has expanded considerably since last year and I know have some silver pieces available for wholesale. It was lovely to exhibit alongside such high quality makers based in such rural areas 600 miles from the venue! Typically the weather this time of year is always unpredictable and from all the flooding we were unsure as to how our sleeper journey back up to the Highlands would go!
With a day turnaround time I then sped off to Glasgow for...
Scotlands Trade Fair - Glasgow
This was my first time exhibiting at the show and in a new section of the Trade Show supported by Craft Scotland. In the past there has been no designated section for designer makers and craftspeople so under the banner of Craft Scotland I exhibited in their Craft Gallery. I had a great time at this show and was the first time I have exhibited by myself in a Trade environment.
Then off to Edinburgh I went to fly out to.....
Craft Scotland sent a call out late last year regarding an opportunity to go to New York on a research trip to visit NY NOW, a huge trade event. The trip would be used to explore the opportunities within New York for exporting and also to see whether the show would be appropriate to exhibit at in the future. I was accepted onto the trip with 7 other makers where we would have a 4 day itinerary to follow with 2 members of Craft Scotland. I have never visited New York before and nothing could prepare me for how much I would love it!! I am going to write a post specifically for New York to tell you all what I got up to with LOTS of pictures!
Thank you for reading!!
