July Round-Up

Finished commissions this July

It’s been a really busy few months of finishing up commissions.

Multi Diamond and Sapphire Ring

The client had a selection of unworn earrings with sapphires and diamonds set in them. She wanted a new chunky, statement ring to use them in and I think the ring below delivers on both counts!

As you can see from the designs we started from a much smaller scale. It was after these initial designs I made some samples in wax and the final design was chosen. Sampling in wax is really helpful so that you can see a physical example of the finished piece without committing to the metal.

Upon chosing the final design I then got to work in silver. Each ‘stick’ is hand cut and soldered into place with the placement of the stones coming second. I like to create an initial shape in the sticks first to then see where I can place the seven diamonds and pink sapphire.

After setting all the stones the piece was then oxidised creating a dramatic statement ring!

Double Diamond chunky ring

This second commission is a bit more subtle. The diamonds were inherited from a beautiful ring from the clients mother. There was five diamonds in varying sizes. The client loved a ring I currently stocked in the shop and wanted to see if I could recreate that with her stones. The silver band is a chunky court shape and has the central diamond set into the band in 18ct gold. The second smaller diamond is set off centre also in 18ct gold. I love the combination of silver and 18ct gold together and was so pleased with the results.

9ct Single Diamond Chain

Made for my mother in law and based on the single diamond bracelet in 9ct gold the design was extended to make this elegant necklace. It is 17 inches in length but can be made shorter by hooking the clasp in another link. It is now available on my website and can be viewed here…
